Dr. Carlos Israel Pérez Benítez is a licensed clinical psychologist with extensive academic and clinical training from prestigious institutions, including Cornell Medical College and Brown University. He earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Bowling Green State University and completed his clinical internship at Cornell Medical College/New York Presbyterian Hospital. He further specialized through a postdoctoral clinical research fellowship at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University, where he focused on anxiety disorders, trauma, PTSD, and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). His academic appointments include assistant professorships and lecturer roles at Brown and the University of Miami, where he has provided clinical supervision, taught graduate-level courses on psychological interventions, and led cognitive therapy seminars for psychiatry residents.

Dr. Pérez Benítez's professional experience spans over three decades, encompassing psychotherapy, psychological assessments, and behavioral interventions for diverse populations. He is the director of the Miami Center for Cognitive Therapy, where he provides services for children, adults, and seniors with conditions including autism spectrum disorder (ASD), ADHD, anxiety disorders, PTSD, and medically unexplained physical symptoms. He is a diplomate of the Academy of Cognitive Therapy and has published extensively on PTSD, anxiety sensitivity, Latino and African American mental health, and cognitive therapy outcomes. His work reflects a strong emphasis on evidence-based approaches such as CBT and applied behavior analysis (ABA), with special attention to cultural competence and underserved populations.
